On 17 May, we are celebrating International Museum Day. In the heart of the Nikolaiviertel, we invite you to visit our exhibition – admission is free.

Discover how the Knoblauch family of Berlin merchants lived here around two hundred years ago in authentic surroundings and rooms furnished true to the original. The exhibition[ Everyday life in Biedermeier Berlin: Humboldt, Schinkel and the Knoblauch Family ](https://staging.stadtmuseum.de/en/exhibition/berliner-leben-im-biedermeier)provides in-depth background information about the residents of the house, their famous guests and the era between the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 and the revolutionary events of 1848.

International Museum Day will take place for the 49th time in 2026. Annually designated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to fall on 18 May, it will be celebrated in Germany this year on the third Sunday of the month. The aim of this event is to raise awareness of museums and encourage people to discover their diversity.
