The exhibition gives you a sense of how people lived and worked back then. The Knoblauchhaus has been open to visitors as a museum since 1989. The permanent exhibition also features a small area where visitors can join in the discussion and get involved. This space is dedicated to current issues, new perspectives and thought-provoking questions. Initiatives, associations, school classes and other partners contribute their own viewpoints. In this way, the museum becomes a lively place for exchange and dialogue. ## The Raphael Cabinet The Italian artist Raffaelo Sanzio de Urbino (1483–1520) was already regarded as a artistic genius 200 years ago. In 1835, Carl Knoblauch dedicated a room to his art. It housed copperplate engravings based on works by the painter and architect. The entrance is visually contrasting. The entrance door is a double-leaf door without automatic (threshold 4 cm high), our museum staff is available for assistance. Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas. The exhibition rooms are accessible only by stairs (19 steps to the 1st floor, another 20 steps to the 2nd floor). All doors and passageways are at least 78 cm wide (door thresholds up to 5 cm high). The toilet is not barrier-free (door width 53 cm). The rooms and exhibits are predominantly brightly lit and glare-free. Information about the exhibition and the objects is mainly visible while sitting down, the signage is visually high-contrast, but the lettering is sometimes very small. Information on the exhibition objects is conveyed in writing and acoustically. Occasional seating is available in the exhibition. ### Offerings Audio stations are available in the exhibition. Additional audio content can be accessed via QR codes in the exhibition. An audio guide (with headphone connection) in German, English, Spanish, Turkish and for families (in German) can be borrowed free of charge from our staff in the entrance area. ### Certification The Knoblauchhaus has been assessed by “Reisen für Alle” (Travelling for All) in 2025 and awarded the “Accessibility Tested” certificate.
