The Berlin Museum is the brand name of the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin. The Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin is a foundation under public law, funded by the State of Berlin. The foundation’s remit, structure and governing bodies are governed by the Museums Foundation Act and the foundation’s statutes. The foundation’s governing bodies are the Executive Board and the Foundation Council.

The Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin is the sole shareholder of Stadtmuseum Berlin GmbH, the Berlin Museum’s service company. In addition, the foundation comprises several independent and non-independent foundations.

In total, around 300 people work at the Berlin Museum. Just under 200 of these are employed by the Foundation – across the six museums, in administration and in the Depots. The Foundation is organised into the Executive Board, four management departments and specialist as well as project teams.
