For the ‘Berlin now!’ photo appeal, we were looking for your pictures capturing Berlin’s contradictions. Thank you for more than 1,500 entries! We are displaying your photos here. A selection of the entries was also on display in the special exhibition ‘Berlin Contrasts (2004–2015) – Photographs by Frank Silberbach and Nikolas von Safft’ at the Ephraim-Palais.

That was our appeal

From 14 June to 16 July 2023, we collected photographs that capture Berlin’s contrasts and its unique spirit. More than 1,500 people took part and showed us many different facets of Berlin. We would like to say a big thank you for that!

Your photos show a city full of contrasts, reflected in its buildings, people, objects and chance encounters. Some of them were also featured in our special exhibition ‘Berlin Contrasts (2004–2015)’ at the Ephraim-Palais.
