Information for production teams

In our museums and on our premises, filming and photography for news coverage and documentary films are generally permitted both indoors and outdoors. However, this must be arranged with us in advance and approved by us.

For feature films and other commercial productions, indoor filming is only possible to a limited extent and in selected rooms. This is due to the greater time and technical resources required, visitor traffic and conservation requirements. Exactly what is possible and what equipment can be used depends on the specific filming location.

Application and Contract

To grant permission, we require a written application containing all the relevant information about the production, including an extract from the script and, where applicable, storyboards. Application forms are available for download below. If the proposed film or photo shoot is feasible, you will be issued with a filming permit.

Charges

The costs for film or photo shoots depend on the project and are charged on a time-and-materials basis. Once we have received your complete application, we will let you know the exact amount. The costs are included in the filming permit. For public service broadcasters, the first hour is free of charge. We will get back to you regarding your application as soon as possible. We are also happy to answer any questions you may have.
